This is part of an online workshop called emotional evolution. I had to write down one of my fears which is traveling on country roads and gesso over it. Add images which I did with a country road and my chauffeur who now helps me go places instead of being in danger on roads. I added words and all is finished. a bit of fun

Dear friends,
Been awhile. I have still been doing my art in zippy mode but haven't had anything worth adding to my blog. I enjoyed doing these two pages with my altered book. I added brown paper with white pattern to pages. Gessoed around the paper and used gesso to stamp on page using a stamp made of a jar with wool twined around it so I could paint the base covered with twine. makes great effect. I then added some words about inner peace from the altered book pages I removed. That's it...more of my simple art.

These journal pages I did a page that opens out and I journaled inside. there is a tab to grab to open page. I used a serviette with butterflies on to decorate the pages. Blind painting

Dear friends,
On a creativity site some of us were challenged to do some art blind...with eyes closed or a blind fold. I decided to take on the challenge and did a face. I learnt so much like how the paint feels on the page, needing to wait lots of time for it to dry because you don't know when it is unless you feel it. You have to keep an idea in your mind of what you have painted. You need the paints ordered so you know what color is what by feel. Most interesting.

I can't believe there is now a photo of me in my bathers on the net!!! I am very self conscious about my weight and have had problems with body image most of my life. This is my first art piece done on canvas and the first page to a canvas art journal. It is all about mastery of life on the wing....dragon flies.....and balance in the chaos of mental illness and feeling good about myself as who i am. i am enough just the way I am today. I am also down the beach at one of my favourite magical spots near a friends boat shed where i can sit and drink coffee and watch the ocean and go for a swim.

I have had works on my computer for 3 weeks but haven't put them on. I never do it during my quiet time I always have to wait until I am zippy. I will catch up now. Not sure how many to put on.
This one is a collage I did about life and time and how it passes for me and how much of it is a game with my mind and dealing with my rapid cycling bipolar. The yacht near the edge shows how I often feel I am on the edge and not coping but the child with the lady is me taking care of my inner child. The heart is for love

Altered book page celebrating 6th chakra

This altered book / altered text page is celebrating winter, august and my 6th chakra. I took a tip from a friend to gesso the page add some paint and spritz with water then wipe off with a paper towel. I also did some other pages for my artist journal.
I am really enjoying doing the altered book and do a double spread each time I celebrate a new zippy time with my mental illness.

Exploring quiet time

Dear friends,
I am exploring how I can cope better with my quiet time which occasionally is quite dark. I can get quite reflective and moody. i am trying to find a better way to travel these times by finding more pleasant activities than sitting. I tend not to do my art work or creative things. I am going to encourage myself to do more gardening, cooking and other varied activities.
The collage has me sitting on a seat pondering about my decisions. I want to be friends with my quiet time not just my zippy times. I want to nurture my mind, body and soul.

Dear friends, It has been awhile since I posted any art. I did this in my last creative, zippy time. It is where I have used a homemade flower stamp and applying glue to it and stamping on the page and letting it dry and then stamping some more with purple acrylic paint and then applying acrylic paint wash over the top. Interesting bit of play.
I have also been doing a collage about my down and quiet times and have posted it on my other blog....

The second collage I did for my hero's journey as part of the online workshop has a labyrinth in it which reminds me of the simplicity of my journey nowadays and the lovely rituals and routines I have in each day that make it enjoyable. I have put the bread of heaven to remind me that simple things are a great joy to me although I do seek excitement at times mostly I enjoy simplicity. I have also put the sea which I visit each day. I love it's different moods which reminds me of my mood disorder and how I can have continuity in my life despite my mood disorder. I love the sea. Hero's journey

Dear friends,
I am doing a workshop on the Hero's journey and this is my first collage about my hero's journey. The snake is the most important part. Mostly I am scared of snakes but as an animal spirit it has much to teach me.....explorations of the mysteries of life and lifes magic, exploring my goddess energies, immortality. The garden is how I feel about life and how beautiful it can be and so full of beautiful discovery. My life is very simple so the garden is also a simple and relaxing place to do my journey. The honeycomb is also about life's sweetness and all the little compartments and things that go on in life. The hiking shoes are how I walk through life although ballet shoes or red shoes would also be appropriate. I walk through life with many different shoes but one of my favourites is hiking shoes. The world globe is how much there is to explore in the world and the books how I appreciate books in my life and learn so much from them. I love the flowers too and always like seeing them on my walks.
I have another collage which I will write about in the next post.

Dear friends,
This is the response to a prompt called "I love it when". I used fabric with fairies on it and wrote about my times with my grandmother and our love of fairies at the bottom of the garden. i then wrote over the two pages all the things I love when...like I love it when it rains like now.

Something for free drawing challenge

Dear friends,
Doing the weekly challenge at everydaymatters and this week was to do something i got for free. These ear rings were a gift from a dear friend who spoils me a lot. She loves jewelery making and I have a lot of her creations. These are the latest and have crystals inserted ...the blue color and crystals hanging from the blue part.
I love the way nature is free and would have liked to have drawn some nature.

Hangman challenge

Dear friends, This is the response to a prompt to include a hangman game on my artist journal page. My friend guessed what the word was really easily and only had two wrong answers. She plays the game well. It was great to do this challenge as it had my friend asking about my journals and art and I shared my artist journal with her.

Coffee pot challenge

Dear friends,
Another challenge from the yahoo group everydaymatters This week was a coffee pot. I rarely use this coffee pot as I usually have instant coffee to save my nerves. Strong coffee is dreadful for my nerves. I love frothing milk in this coffee maker to put on top of milky coffee.

Photo inspiration..rocks

Dear friends,
I used some photos of some interesting rocks in my neighbourhood to inspire a background. I used grays, beige, greens and black inspired by the rocks and used a massage brush and toothbrush to add the paints.

Windows to the senses

This is the response to a prompt to look at how we experience our senses. I did smelling the roses, tasting chocolate, feeling the touch of a butterfly wings, see the words of books and emails and hearing the crash of waves. Doing the prompt put me in touch with my senses. Music or quiet

Dear friends,
This was done as a challenge where I had to play some music while I did some art. i am so used to the silence that I turned the music off. I contrasted a photo of a crowded garden exhibition with that of a photo of a peaceful forest and thought of the contrast of music and stillness.
