Bucha

Dear friends, Couldn't resist doing a simple sketch of my neighbours cat Bucha who often visits me and gives me cuddles and curls up on my bed or couch and enjoys a visit. I love him to pieces particularly since my cat Sooty died.

Soul journaling prompts

Dear friends, Todays artwork is a response to the prompts from the yahoo group soul journaling.
Below is the artwork for the prompt...The most valuable thing I have learned........which is to keep on healing and believing and trusting in God. I find pink very healing

The new gift and coffee shop

Dear friends, I visited my new gift and coffee shop and did sketches of some children's toys. I will go back there and do more sketches again. I really enjoyed the experience. I don't have coffee out much but will frequent this new shop. It is a magical place and full of wonderful things to see and sketch. I asked the owner if I could sketch many of their things and he is happy about that.

Be still

Dear friends,
As part of online course had to choose make a vision card of one of our dreams. One of mine is to be as healthy as I can be and this art work is the result. I wrote on the little card Keep flying which is what the instructor Kathryn suggested in the class.
I combined it with another challenge from the onthewing ning group where we had to select some favourite writings from our favourite book. My favourite book would be the bible and one of my favourite passages is from the psalms.....Be still and know that I am God. This is my response.

Week 3 and 4 of online course

Dear friends, Week three and four of my online course was on "I am the key to change in my life" and I had to do vision cards that clearly stated the goal. I did "I am adventurous" "I am healthy".
Here is some art I put on the front of a book of adventurous activities to do which is written by Julia Cameron. It has all her artist date ideas in it.

Core values

Dear friends, I've finished week two of my online course and it is about core values. Some of my core values are
God's will not mine, inner peace, self esteem, integrity, friendship, creativity, adventure, health and family not in that order.
Had to list some of the qualities I admire in my friends. They would be hope, encouragement, positiveness, helpful, friendly, faithful, inspiring and I have another 16 and I could still keep on going. I am blessed with some wonderful friends.
I made some little cards with my core values on and I keep them on my meditation table and meditate on one at a time.

Relaxation

Dear friends, I am doing an online course with Kathryn Antyr....check out her site.....http://collagediva.typepad.com
We had to find an image that was relaxation and serenity and I chose a lady blowing bubbles...such a relaxing thing to do. We then had to make some little cards with inspiring words on them... I chose "go with the flow", "one day at a time" "living in the moment" and also did a prompt card for my home to be calm and organized.
Kathryn asked what we do for relaxation.....I love being with my friends and family, resting in bed before the day begins, TV and videos and DVDs, going to the beach, walking and all my creativity activities like art, craft, photography, gardening and cooking. I have a lot of relaxing in my life looking at this list
I am working on lesson 2 today. I am quite behind but Kathryn said we can take as long as we like.

Horoscope collage

Dear friends, This is a collage in response to a challenge to do a collage of my horoscope sign which is Libran for balance. A friend said it reminded her of strength so I have added the number 8 to the collage and the number 2. I haven't shown the improvements here. I've just joined a group reading The decorated page which should be fun. It is online. I must learn how to put the sites on my blog so you can go to them directly.

Collage using a shape

Hi friends, A friend set a challenge of doing a collage or piece of art around a shape. I chose a star and cut out an image of a person full of stars and star dust. I did texta stars, pen stars, silver stars and a collage star and then wrote on the page. I have just experienced a shift in my relationship with God where i am much more faithful. This collage celebrates this happening.

Power doll

Dear friends, I enjoyed making two dolls a while back for a challenge set by Julia Cameron in her book Vein of gold. I decided to make another one. This one reminds me of the personal power I have. I am reading about power in chapter 3 of Julias book The artist way. Thanks for stopping by.

Scavenger hunt

Dear friends, This was a challenge where there was a list of things to use including something found on a pavement, something from the trash, 3 colors, a bottle top and a number of other things. Off I went to find what I needed and this is the result.

Transfer collage

Dear friends, The challenge was to use a transfer. I used some packing tape to copy an image of a mask which is in bottom right of the collage. I added an image of trees at night and painted over it in black and then added pieces of silver jewelery.

Crazymakers

Dear friends, I have just read chapter 2 of Julia Cameron's book The artist way and she talks about crazy makers. I have just gotten rid of a crazy maker in my life. She was so critical and rude and I was never enough as a friend. i have learnt I am enough just the way i am today. Here is my art work for crazy makers.

Dear friends,
Latest challenge I have was to create images from an image. I had the image from a stencil (the blue on the left) and I collaged and drew with texta my response. i did another page as well which isn't shown. I am enjoying the challenges.

Stencil challenge

Dear friends,
Just finished a challenge that was to use a stencil with a collage. Here is the result. Instead of making a stencil I went to the shops and bought one. I had a great time playing with it and did a lot of collages and stencil work. Have you ever used a stencil in your artwork?

4 layers collage

Dear friends, These two collages are the result of a prompt challenge to do a collage with 4 layers. I did 2 layers of papers, painted on one page and added beads to another and then added words. The photos aren't too good. i am sorry. I hope to get better at taking images.

This is an artist journal response to an all white challenge given at the Milliande ning group. This was fun to do as I wasn't sure how all white would turn out. I also decided to do an all white little flat doll to add to the page. I beaded it and added white buttons.

Maps challenge

Dear friend,
These artist journal pages are part of a challenge to explore using maps in your artist journal. I used a map of Victoria where i live and a map of Japan where I would like to go. I gessoed the parts of the map I didn't want to see and then did some potato stamp spirals. I then added some oak leaves because they give me wisdom and strength and then I journaled on the page. I am going to do some more pages today.

Spirals

Dear friend,
I am using a friends fabulous blog for inspiration for my own artwork. The other day she did a whole lot on spirals so I used it for two pages in my artist journal. The dark orange swirls are using a potato as a stamp. REminded me of being a kid. I am so childlike in my artist journals. I love the simplicity.

This is a paper weaving of my dreams and my life. It came from an online prompt. I did it while I was staying in a motel where I went to have a break from home and to do some art without distraction.

VOG dolls

I made these two dolls for the doll challenge as part of reading Julia Cameron's book Vein of gold. The black doll is my inner critic that still has a heart and helps me to learn so much about life particularly now I have befriended her. The other doll has two sides. I have bipolar so the colorful side is when I am energetic and slightly manic and the plainer side is my quieter less energetic side. I am busy making a shrine for the two of them to live in.

Bracelets

Dear friend, I have just made my first two bracelets. The red and silver and blue and silver bracelets. The plain turquoise one is a gift from a friend. I thought it would be hard to make a bracelet but it was a lot of fun. I have another two planned and a necklace too....maybe more. I'll be adding more of my work when my camera is repaired. It's in being fixed.
